Payments and billing
Payments infrastructure and subscription billing for internet businesses, now including usage-based billing through its Metronome acquisition.
Stripe covers the invoice and cash end of the cycle for most SaaS and online businesses: card and bank payments, subscriptions, invoicing, and increasingly usage-based billing. For B2B service firms it is often just the payment rail behind an invoice issued elsewhere.
The gaps show up between Stripe and the rest of the stack. Payouts are netted of fees and refunds, so matching them to invoices in QuickBooks or Xero is not one-to-one. Subscription changes made in Stripe also have to reach the CRM and the revenue schedule, which rarely happens on its own.
We reconcile Stripe payments and payouts to the accounting system, sync subscription changes back to the CRM, and add dunning and follow-up workflows for failed payments and overdue invoices.

Client projects where Stripe was part of the stack
For simple subscriptions, often yes. Once you need PO numbers, custom payment terms, multi-entity billing, or detailed revenue recognition, Stripe usually needs to be paired with an accounting system and some custom workflow.
Payouts are batched and net of fees, refunds, and disputes. Reconciling them means matching each underlying charge to its invoice, not the payout total.
Yes, with metered billing, and more so since the Metronome acquisition. The hard part is usually upstream: collecting and rating usage correctly before it reaches Stripe.
